History

Camp Willow Springs is a non-profit, interdenominational Christian camp and retreat center located on beautiful Lake Gaston near Littleton, NC.  Camp Willow Springs opened in 2014 for campers/guests and is being developed on property adjacent to Camp Willow Run. Both camps are owned and operated by Youth Camps for Christ, Inc.

In 1967, God gave the late Reverend Erbie Mangum, Jr. and his wife, Linda, the vision for starting Christian camps. In 1968, the development of Camp Willow Run (CWR) began. The founders envisioned camps that would not only offer summer adventures, but would also help participants recognize those adventures as blessings from God by showing children and youth why, and how, to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. CWR has been blessed to serve thousands of campers and guests. As a result of CWR’s growth and the provision of additional land, the development of Camp Willow Springs (CWS) began.

CWS can currently serve up to 144 campers/guests using the eight completed duplex dormitories, swimming pool complex, dining hall, meeting room, amphitheater, health care center, office, and recreation areas. All dormitories are air-conditioned, heated, and equipped with bathrooms. Up to 20 campers and 2 counselors (summer) or chaperones (retreats) live in the duplex dormitories. As development continues, CWS will eventually serve over 240 campers/guests.

Summer camp sessions are available for the general public and campers can choose from 3-night and 5-night sessions. The CWS summer camp program is designed specifically for campers in Grades 3-6 and will include times of Bible study, music, games and recreation. Recreation options include swimming, canoeing, low ropes, archery, giant swing, model rocketry, fishing, crafts, waterskiing, and riding the red shark.

CWS is also available to host Church camps and Christian groups of up to 175 guests for Spring/Fall retreats.
