• A Special Picture

September 5, Jeremy Davis and I decided to take a boat ride around the lake.  As we departed we experienced some rain but decided we were going to make the best of the trip regardless.  A couple of hours later we put the boat away and while walking up the hill towards my truck, Jeremy told me to turn around and look up.  What I saw was a beautiful rainbow.  It was only fitting that the rainbow rest over the property at Camp Willow Springs.  This rainbow seemed to be full of color and meaning.  The rainbow cast its color in a semi-circle, starting at the trees and fading back…

  • Storm Update

On Tuesday, August 23, we felt the earthquake from the Louisa epicenter just north of Richmond, Virginia.  There was no damage at camp from the mild tremors felt here, but it was unsettling.  Then Hurricane Irene arrived on the North Carolina coast on Saturday, impacting all of the coastal and inland regions within four hours of the beaches in our State, as it moved up the eastern seaboard. Amazingly, Camp Willow Run sustained no damage to buildings, no flooding, and minimal challenges.  We had loss of power until Monday, but the emergency generator kept our dining hall equipment and water well operational.  To be expected, debris was everywhere and we…

  • Office and Health Care Center Update

The foundation block has been laid for both the camp office and health care center.  Both buildings are now ready for the plumbing rough-in and gravel backfill.  It is exciting to see these buildings begin to take shape!

  • Camp Office & Health Care Center

We are excited to announce that the construction of the camp office and health care center are underway!  The workers have prepared the footings and the concrete block work will begin this week.  Stay tuned for regular updates on the construction of these two buildings.

  • July Greetings

Each week we have a “Boxcar Roster” with the names and boxcar assignments for all campers.  During week # 7, July 17-23, High School campers were at camp.  Just about all of these teenagers have been campers for four to ten years.  We are watching them “grow up” and grow in their faith.  Their joy and exuberance for the Lord and life are invigorating! We are also excited about the growth at Camp Willow Springs.  The Surveyor has staked off the location for two more buildings.  The camp office and the health care center are next for construction.  This work begins this week. The need is to open Camp Willow…

  • Our Children… A Treasure Beyond Measure!

Together, we make a difference in the lives of the children.  It is a partnership with an eternal investment.  Thousands of children have been spiritually nurtured and encouraged in their faith through involvement in Camp Willow Run’s summer and retreat programs.  Hundreds and hundreds of others missed that opportunity due to lack of space during summer sessions.  Weeks continue to have waiting lists. Working together, we are making a difference in the development of Camp Willow Springs.  Thanks to donors, two dorms are completed.  We need to continue construction of dorms and other Phase One facilities.  The two largest facilities need funding so that construction can begin this summer.  The…

  • Interior Work Continues…

Painting and sub-contractor work has continued in both dormitories.  The addition of counter tops, sinks, shower stalls, and toilets bring the two buildings closer and closer to completion. As this work continues, the YCFC Board of Directors is making plans for how to proceed with development of Phase One.
