• A Special Delivery!

Davis Cooley, a former camper, recently completed and donated four picnic tables for Camp Willow Springs as a part of his Eagle Scout project.  The tables are a welcome addition and will benefit campers for years to come. A big thank you to Davis and those involved in the project! There are several similar opportunities to donate time or a special project at CWS and CWR. Please contact us if you have an idea of a way to contribute to the camps.

  • Storm Update

On Tuesday, August 23, we felt the earthquake from the Louisa epicenter just north of Richmond, Virginia.  There was no damage at camp from the mild tremors felt here, but it was unsettling.  Then Hurricane Irene arrived on the North Carolina coast on Saturday, impacting all of the coastal and inland regions within four hours of the beaches in our State, as it moved up the eastern seaboard. Amazingly, Camp Willow Run sustained no damage to buildings, no flooding, and minimal challenges.  We had loss of power until Monday, but the emergency generator kept our dining hall equipment and water well operational.  To be expected, debris was everywhere and we…

  • Our Children… A Treasure Beyond Measure!

Together, we make a difference in the lives of the children.  It is a partnership with an eternal investment.  Thousands of children have been spiritually nurtured and encouraged in their faith through involvement in Camp Willow Run’s summer and retreat programs.  Hundreds and hundreds of others missed that opportunity due to lack of space during summer sessions.  Weeks continue to have waiting lists. Working together, we are making a difference in the development of Camp Willow Springs.  Thanks to donors, two dorms are completed.  We need to continue construction of dorms and other Phase One facilities.  The two largest facilities need funding so that construction can begin this summer.  The…

  • CWR Office Field Trip!

On Friday the Camp Willow Run staff closed the office for a few minutes to visit the Camp Willow Springs site.   There was a lot of excitement as the staff saw the dormitories and walked through them imagining the day that children would be there for summer camp.  The visit concluded with a special time of prayer thanking the Lord for His faithfulness and seeking His guidance in completing Camp Willow Springs.

  • Board of Directors visit CWS

On Wednesday, several members of the Board of Directors visited the Camp Willow Springs site to tour the nearly completed dormitories with the Executive Director, Director of Operations & Development, and the general contractor.  After the tour, the Board of Directors met to discuss and plan for the next steps in completing Phase One of  Camp Willow Springs.

  • Timelines & Guideposts

A “time line” can remind us of where we have come from and where we are now.  We can follow “guide posts” to take us where we want to go.   In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, we took giant steps of faith to launch a Christian camping ministry on the shore of Lake Gaston. During that time, we claimed Psalms 90: 16-17 as our prayer: “Let Your work appear to Your servants; and Your majesty to Your children; And let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; and do confirm for us the work of our hands ; Yes, confirm the work of our hands.” Great…

  • September Update

The Camp Willow Run summer theme, Live the Life, is from John 10:10…”I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.”    During our twelve summer sessions, 2000 campers participated in summer programs.  What a joy to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to this generation of young people and see their enthusiasm and joy to know and serve Him with abundant LIFE! Several years ago, we began to see huge backlogs of waiting lists for applications that could not be processed due to lack of space.  I will never forget sitting in the home of Alvis and Mac Fleming…..overlooking the cornfield across the road of their Sunny…

  • Warren County Approves Master Plan!

The Warren County Planning and Zoning Board met on November 24th.  During that meeting they approved the Camp Willow Springs Master Plan Design in a unanimous vote.  We praise the Lord for this approval as it allows us to continue in the development of Camp Willow Springs.
